In the scope management planning phase, there are four processes, and one of them is plan scope management. This process involves creating a scope management plan that documents how the project and product scope will be defined, validated, and controlled. The key benefit of this process is that it provides guidance and direction on how scope will be managed throughout the project. This process is performed once or at predefined points in the project.
Like all other processes, there are inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs for this process. The inputs include the project charter, project management plans, project life cycle description, development approach, enterprise environmental factors, and organizational process assets. The tools and techniques used in this process include expert judgment, data analysis, alternatives analysis, and meetings.
The outputs of this process are the scope management plan and requirements management plan. These output plans will help in properly planning scope management for the project.
